Quotables #55: The Collective Cinema of Susan Sarandon
Continuing our Collective Cinema Quotable game, we've decided to pick the movies of Susan Sarandon. Each of the following quotes or snippets of dialogue are spoken by Sarandon. Your job is to guess which movies they're from.
Sarandon:
I believe in the Church of Baseball. I've tried all the major religions and most of the minor ones. I've worshipped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary, and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I heard that, I gave Jesus a chance...
Movie 1:
Man:
Tell me something, Sister. What is a nun doing in a place like this? Shouldn't you be teaching children? Didn't you know what this man has done? How he killed them kids?
Sarandon:
What he was involved with was evil. I don't condone it. I just don't see the sense of killing people to say that killing people's wrong.
Man:
You know what the Bible say. "An eye for an eye."
Sarandon:
You know what else the Bible asks for death as a punishment? For adultery, prostitution, homosexuality, trespass upon sacred grounds, profanity on the Sabbath, and contempt to parents.
Man:
I ain't gonna get no Bible quote from no nun, 'cause I'm gonna lose.
Movie 2:
Sarandon:
You know, Ben was born in two hours, went right to the breast, and camped there for four days. His blanket looked just like a cape. Even the nurses thought so. He loves hearing that story about how he was born a magician.
Woman:
What about her?
Sarandon:
28 hours. The doctors wanted to go in and get her, but I knew she'd come at her own time. You can never rush her.
Woman:
I'll keep that in mind.
Movie 3:
Sarandon:
Brad, please, let's get out of here.
Man:
For God’s sakes, keep a grip on it, Janet.
Sarandon:
But it seems so unhealthy here.
Man:
It's just a party, Janet.
Sarandon:
Well, I wanna go!
Man:
Well, we can't go back to the car unless we get to a phone.
Sarandon:
Well, ask the butler or someone!
Man:
Just a moment, Janet. We don't want to interfere with their celebration.
Sarandon:
This isn't the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Brad!
Movie 4:
Sarandon:
Oh, Jo. Jo, you have so many extraordinary gifts. How can you expect to lead an ordinary life? You're ready to go out and - and find a good use for your talent. Though I don't know what I shall do without my Jo. Go, and embrace your liberty, and see what wonderful things come of it.
